Cape Fear Book Festival - WriteOn! Keynote - Teri M. Brown In-Person

Join us for the third annual Cape Fear Book Festival's WriteOn workshops!

  • Teri M. Brown, Keynote: “Buy My Book”: A Practical Marketing Plan for Authors; How to build visibility, find readers, and keep marketing without losing your mind.
    • Writing the book is only the beginning. Now you have to get people to read it. But marketing doesn't have to mean constantly shouting “Buy my book!” on social media. In this practical, author-to-author seminar, Teri M. Brown shares the strategies she has used to build visibility for her books, from creating an author platform and growing an email list to getting reviews, finding podcasts and bloggers, creating a media kit, making the most of in-person events, pursuing awards, using social media, and experimenting with Facebook ads. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of what to prioritize—and a realistic marketing plan they can actually use.
    • Teri M. Brown is an award-winning American novelist, inspirational speaker, and podcast host known for deeply empathetic, character-driven stories that explore resilience, family conflict, and personal reinvention. After a career in business content writing and self-help publishing, she transitioned to fiction after winning the 2017 Anita Bloom Ornoff Award for Inspirational Short Story. Her novels have since earned dozens of literary awards. Brown hosts the Online for Authors podcast, mentors writers, and speaks at literary events and conferences. An adventurer at heart, she completed a 3,102-mile tandem bicycle trek across the United States to raise money for charity. She lives on the North Carolina coast, where she writes, travels, plays word games and bridge, hunts for bargains, and enjoys the beach.
