Maritime Archaeology: Shipwrecks and Other Submerged Sites in North Carolina Waters @Pleasure Island In-Person

From pirate ships to Civil War Blockade Runners, North Carolina is home to many shipwrecks and other underwater archaeological sites such as prehistoric canoes, plantation landings and infrastructure, and other historic industrial or commercial locations set along the state’s numerous riverbanks.

This afternoon, the North Carolina Office of State Archaeology’s Underwater Archaeology Branch, located at Ft. Fisher, NC, will share the techniques they use to record archaeological sites and share some of their best stories.

Registration is preferred but not required. This program is open to everyone.
