Maritime Archaeology: Shipwrecks and Other Submerged Sites in North Carolina Waters @Pine Valley In-Person
From pirate ships to Civil War Blockade Runners, North Carolina is home to many shipwrecks and other underwater archaeological sites such as prehistoric canoes, plantation landings and infrastructure, and other historic industrial or commercial locations set along the state’s numerous riverbanks.
This afternoon, the North Carolina Office of State Archaeology’s Underwater Archaeology Branch, located at Ft. Fisher, NC, will share the techniques they use to record archaeological sites and share some of their best stories.
This program will include hands on activities using Chips Ahoy Chocolate Chip Cookies. Registration is required to ensure we have enough supplies for everyone. This program is limited to those aged 12-18.
