Nature at Home program introduction In-Person
Program:
Nature at Home is a collaborative and personalized program designed to transform residents' outdoor spaces into wildlife friendly habitat. By wildlife friendly habitat we are focusing on attracting more birds, butterflies and other pollinators who need special plants to reproduce and to thrive. Our mission is to educate and encourage residents interested in learning the benefits of native plants, identifying and removing invasive plants and engaging in sustainable gardening practices.
Presenters:
Marge DeForest, Extension Master Gardener for 4 years, co-coordinator of the Nature at Home for the past 18 months and is a member of the NAH Steering Committee. She loves to share the message of the benefits of native plants and help people become more successful backyard gardeners. Deb Chappell has been a Certified Master Gardener since 2020 but has been a lifetime gardener. It wasn't until she read Doug Tallamy's book "Bringing Nature Home" and joined the Nature at Home Ambassadors (NAH), that her eyes were opened to the importance of gardening to support wildlife. Deb participates in NAH resident site visits, led the 2024 NAH Ambassador training and is on the NAH Steering Committee.
