On the Beach with Dr. Ashley Oliphant
Join nationally recognized seashell and shark tooth hunter Dr. Ashley Oliphant for this interactive presentation, On the Beach, all about finding the best treasures along the shore. Dr. Oliphant will teach how fossils form, how to be an ethical beachcomber who protects the environment and wildlife, how to stay safe at the beach, and how to identify common shells and shark teeth found in the Carolinas.
She will also explain how wind, moon phases, tides, and seasons affect beachcombing success, and share tips on the best beaches to explore with your family.
Following the presentation, participants will have the chance to dig in sandboxes to find seashells and shark teeth to take home.
Registration required. Ages 6–12. Parent/caregiver supervision is required. Enter the number of children attending in the "Number of People Attending" field. Enter the attending adult's name and email address. In the final text box, list the name and age of each child attending.
